A Strange Hope

A strict punishment will always hurt but,

A faithful chastisement is refinement.

I may not know why, but I do know what:

I found God in solitary confinement.

Only a filthy brown rag covers me,

And I have bouts of both courage and fear.

Life keeps threatening to smother me,

But I somehow feel that my God is near.

I don’t understand the perplexities,

But I now know better than to question.

There is a strange hope in the complexities.

It took my lowest to find redemption.

I now live life knowing I’m not alone,

In the shadow of His glorious throne.
